埃德加·爱伦·坡是一位饱尝人间不幸而又极具文学天赋的诡异之才。他大胆的打破传统的审美观念，将死亡的恐怖、丑恶纳入他的审美范畴。本文试图从内在因素和外部因素分析爱伦·坡作品中死亡美学的起源，探索爱伦·坡作品中死亡主题的美学涵义和表现死亡世界的多样性，以及其给读者带来阅读的快感和心灵的震撼。并把这些小说进行系统分类，从死亡的奇异之美、悲剧之美、超凡之美三个方面对其进行剖析，探讨死亡主题在爱伦·坡笔下所呈现出的不同艺术美感,理解爱伦·坡对死亡独特的审美,挖掘出其带给人的美的感受,从而获得对死亡主题更为深刻的理解和领悟。
