On the Study of College Students’ English Mobile Learning

Abstract

     Recent years have witnessed the emergence of English mobile learning that learners can use mobile devices such as phones, tablets, PSP to learn English in this era of big data. English mobile learning has tremendously enormous potential, with interactivity, individuation and ubiquity. The study of mobile learning is becoming popular in China from 2000. More and more people do the related research and development. Despite the achievements of previous survey and investigation, this study on college students’ English mobile learning from the fragmented learning is seldom.
   The present research aims to make investigations on that topic by using the method of questionnaire. In this paper, the author has drawn some conclusion of college students English learning: (1) The overall status of college students’ English m-learning is satisfactory; (2) Mobile phone is the most popular mobile devices and examination restricts m-learning development to a large extent; (3) English mobile learning with the characteristics of fragmented learning do help students make use of discrete time.  In addition, suggestions are provided from three perspectives including school, teacher and student.
