浅析《最蓝的眼睛》中黑人文化的迷失 I.The Novel The Bluest Eye and its Author A.The Introduction to the Author Toni Morrison is an African-American female writer.Formerly known as Chloe Wolford, Morrison was born on February 18,1931 in Lauren, a small steel industry town near Cleveland, Ohio. Her father was a blue-collar worker and her mother worked as a maid in a white house.In 1949, she was admitted with honors to Howard University forblacks at that time and she studied English and Classics there. Later she served as a senior editor and did her best for the publication of the autobiography of boxing champion Mohamed Ali and the works of some young black writers. As the only African-American female writer who has won the Nobel Prize for literatureso far, Toni Morrison has exerted a far-reaching influence on today's literary world. She is recognized as one of the most outstanding novelists in the world and her novel achievement is a monument in the history of African-American literature. In addition, Morrison is committed to preserving and promoting black culture.Since the publication of her first novel,The Bluest Eye in 1970, he has written eight novels so far. All of them focus on black Americans’ exploration of their own cultural survival and cultural identity in white mainstream society. |
