On Developing Students’ Non-Intellectual Elements inthe English Teaching in Junior Middle School ABSTRACT Under the New Curriculum Standard of Senior High School,today’s education reform aims to give students a well-rounded development, with more emphasis on their mental health and less on grades. In the English teaching in junior middle school,teachers not only teach students language knowledge and skills, but also pay more attention to the emotional and psychological training of students. In a word, developing the students’ non-intellectual elements in the English teaching in junior middle school is of great importance. This study based on the author’s teaching practice in Class 12 Grade 7 in Tonggu middle school in liaocheng, shandong province, therefore,aims at exploring the application of non-intellectual elements in English teaching in junior middle schools . Through the investigation, the following problems are found in English teaching in junior middle school: neglect the cultivation of students’ learning motivation and fail to help students to establish realistic goals,put too much emphasis on students’ academic performance and ignore students’ interest in learning, adopt single teaching model, lack communication with students and establish a bad teacher-student rapport.
