On Translation Strategies of Children’s Picture Books from the Perspective of Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development

Abstract

With the progress of the times and the change of educational concepts, children's picture books have become an important means of enlightenment education. Nowadays, the translation of children's picture books has attracted a lot of attention from experts and scholars, who focus on the research of children's picture books themselves and keep exploring their role in early childhood education. However, as far as the existing research on picture book translation is concerned, the theoretical scope it covers is still relatively narrow. As a theory with children as the core research object,Piaget's cognitive development theory has an important guiding role in the education of children. In view of this, this paper will take Piaget's cognitive development theory as thetheoretical basis to explore the translation strategies of children's picture books. This paper will analyze the current situation of children's picture book translation from different perspectives and demonstrate the guiding role of Piaget's cognitive development theory on children's picture book translation through specific case studies.

Key words; Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development;children’s picture books; translation strategies
