| A Comparative Study on Translations of Costumes in A Dream of Red Mansions Abstract A Dream of Red Mansions is a brilliant artistic treasure in the history of human spirit and culture, as well as a representative and symbol of the splendid ancient Oriental civilization.The costumes described in A Dream of Red Mansions reflect the perfectionof clothing arts in China and the humanistic value of traditional culture. The costumes reflect the personalities, and convey the emotions of the characters.It has a very important social value and has had aprofound impact both in China and all over the world. By comparing the translation of costumes in the two classic versions,this paper sorts out the differences in translation methods between Yangs and David Hawkes on costumes,and analyzes the deeper reasons behind the differences in translation methods in combination with the social and cultural background of the translators. Key words: A Dream of Red Mansions; costumes; Yangs; David Hawkes; translation methods 摘要 《红楼梦》作为家喻户晓的中国古典四大名著之一，是东方古文明的代表和象征，也是人类精神文化史上的艺术瑰宝。《红楼梦》中描写的服饰形象，既体现了中国传统造型艺术的完美，又体现了传统文化的人文价值，反映了人物的审美特征的个性，传达人物的情感，具有非常重要的社会价值，享誉国内外。本篇论文通过对比经典的两本《红楼梦》译本中对人物服饰的翻译，梳理杨戴译者与霍克斯译者在服饰上的翻译方式、翻译习惯的不同，并且与译者自身所处的社会文化背景结合，分析翻译方法不同背后更深层次的原因。 关键词：《红楼梦》；人物服饰；杨戴；大卫·霍克斯；翻译方法 |
