The Application of Situational Teaching Method in English Oral Classes

Abstract:
Oral English teaching is an indispensable part of junior middle school English class.Junior high school students' oral English level will greatly influence English reading, listening and writing ability. The new curriculum reform of junior English thinks highly of the application of situational teaching method in Oral English teaching,which adequately shows the importance of situational teaching method. Therefore, teachers should attach great importance to the creation inOral English teaching according to different students’ characteristics. Through the active and interesting situations,students can use the language more flexibly and improve their English learning initiative so that they can have fun in English learning and develop their comprehensive abilities including listening, speaking, reading and writing.
This paper consists of five parts.The first part mainly expounds the background and significance of the study,and analyzes the importance of oral English situational teaching method in junior high school. In addition, the introduction also introduces the research contents and research methods including literature review, questionnaire and observation. The second part defines the related concepts of situational teaching method,and summarizes some previous research of situational teaching method at home and abroad. The third part gives out the relevant theories including situational cognition and constructivism theory, which provides some material for this study. The fourth part is the investigation and analysisof the situational teaching method in Guiyang NO. 19 middle school.And the fifth part is the conclusion.
