Study on High School Vocabulary Teaching based the Perspective of Prototype Category

Abstract:
In the context of test-oriented education,the traditional teaching mode of vocabulary still has been used by a large number of teachers, which makes vocabulary teaching boring. Students also can not get a full understanding of the meaning of vocabulary.The improvement of listening, speaking, reading, writing skill of students also been hindered.However, cognitive linguistics,the prototype theory has shed a light on the teaching of foreign language acquisition, especially vocabulary teaching. This paper attempts to discuss how to apply the prototype theory to vocabulary teachingin high school, to help students of senior high school acquiring vocabularies effectively.
