| An Analysis of Iceberg Theory and The Old Man and the Sea [Abstract] Hemingway’s novel creation has its unique characteristics and is worthy of deep study.The research on Hemingway’s literature is enduring in China,and the images of his protagonists have the projection of beautiful spiritual qualities, such as the pursuit of dignity, the sense of heroism and the masculinity. His representative novel The old Man and the Sea has been recognized by numerous readers for its artistic features and profound implications. The works employs the concise and simple language to shape the classicimage of the protagonist, receiving wide popularity all round the world. This paper tries to make an analysis on Hemingway’s Iceberg Theory and explore the conciselanguage characteristics in The Old Man and the Sea,making people have a deeper understanding of the iceberg theory and appreciate the unique literature style of Hemingway’s works.
