| An Analysis of the Difference on Cultural Connotation Between Chinese and English Numbers 摘要: 数字早期只是用于计数和排序的工具，本身并没有特殊意义。由于社会的进步，特定的文化背景和社会环境赋予了数字丰富的文化意义，同一个数字在中英文化中产生了相似或相异的象征意义。数字文化作为重要的交流媒介，蕴含着浓厚的民族特色。不同的民族赋予了数字不同的文化内涵，尤其是对某一个数字产生喜爱或者禁忌心理。本文通过研究特定数字在中英数字文化中的差异，分析其中的文化内涵，并从宗教文化、民族心理、谐音现象、思维方式探究中英数字文化差异的原因。结合中英数字文化的差异，强化数字文化在跨文化方面的概念，丰富中英数字文化的认识与研究，进一步挖掘数字的个性文化，在跨文化交流中具有实践与指导意义。 关键词: 数字; 文化内涵；差异对比 ; 差异原因 Abstract： In the early days, numbers were just tools for counting and sorting, and they had no special meaning in themselves. Due to the progress of the society,the specific cultural background and social environment endow numbers with rich cultural significance. The same number has produced similar or differentsymbolic meanings in Chinese and English cultures. As an important medium of communication,numerical culture contains strong national characteristics. Different ethnic groups have given different cultural connotations to numbers, especially to a certain number of preference or taboo psychology. This paper studies the differences of specific numbers in Chinese and English numerical culture, analyzes the cultural connotation,and explores the reasons for the differences from religious culture, national psychology, homophonic phenomenon and thinking mode. Combining with the differences between Chinese and English numerical cultures,it is of practical and guiding significance to strengthen the concept of numerical culture in cross-cultural aspects,enrich the understanding and research of numerical culture in China and Britain, and further tap the personality culture of numbers.
