A Study of the Problems and Strategies in the Development of English Oral Communicative Competence in Senior High School

Abstract

With the continuous development of our country's politics, economy and education, the demand for English talents in the society is increasing day by day, especially the demand for oral communication in English is also increasing. The "New Senior High School English Curriculum Standards" further clarified that the overall goal of the Senior High School English course is to develop students' comprehensive language skills, and emphasizes that students should use English to acquire information and process information, based on the further development of students' comprehensive language abilities. The ability to analyze problems and solve problems, with particular emphasis on improving students' ability to think and express in English. It is especially important to develop students' oral English ability. This is a requirement for social development and also a need for students' lifelong development.
Based on the overall status quo of senior high school students' oral English ability and oral English teaching, this paper puts forward some countermeasures for cultivating senior high school students' oral communication ability: improving the education system and improving teaching conditions; paying attention to teacher development and improving the quality of teachers. In order to effectively improve students' oral communication skills, on the one hand, national policies and schools should provide a good environment. On the other hand, English teachers must have a certain level of educational theory and professionalism; furthermore, students actively participate in practical activities. Practice has proved that actively adopting some countermeasures to create an oral practice atmosphere for students is conducive to cultivating students' oral communication skills and comprehensive language abilities.
