从空间理论的角度探析《月亮与六便士》中塔西提岛的象征意义【英文】 Abstract William Somerset Maugham, as a unique writer in the world of English literature, is a rare talent.The Moon and Sixpence is one of his three full-length works. From the perspective of the first person, it describes the story of Strickland, an ordinary stockbroker in London, who is suddenly fascinated by art and leaves his wife and children behind to go to Tahiti in the South Pacific Ocean to infuse the value of life into the gorgeous canvas with his paintbrush. The author on the basis of the Lefebvre’s space theory of geographic space, social space and psychological space of three dimensions and combined with the hero Charles Strickland seeking self experience, from the transfer of the geographical position, close contact, and the pursuit of the ideal psychological change process to explore Tahiti symbolic significance. This paper is divided into three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction introduces Maugham and his works, domestic and foreign studies on The Moon and Sixpence and the theory of spatial analysis. The body is divided into three parts. In the first chapter, from the perspective of the geographical location of the protagonist, Tahiti symbolizes the place of human freedom. In Chapter 2, Tahiti is a symbol of a soul mate from the social space point of view of the three women who are in close contact with the protagonist. In the third chapter, from the perspective of the psychological space in which the hero pursues his dream from ignorance to awakening, Tahiti is the symbol of the holy land to realize his ideal. In conclusion, through the analysis of the symbolic significance of Tahiti from different dimensions, it is further realized that people need to break through the shackles of the secular world, resist temptation and keep the strong will of loneliness on the road to self-realization, and at the same time, they need to grasp the appropriate degree between ideal and reality. Key words: the space theory; the symbolic meanings; Tahiti 中文摘要 威廉·萨默塞特·毛姆作为英国文坛上一位享誉世界的独特作家,是文坛少有的人才。《月亮和六便士》是他的三大长篇代表作之一,以第一人称的视角描述了一个原本平凡的伦敦证券经纪人思特里克兰德,突然着了艺术的魔,抛妻弃子,奔赴南太平洋的塔希提岛,用画笔把生命的价值全部注入绚烂的画布的故事。 笔者运用列斐伏尔空间分析理论中的地理空间、社会空间和心理空间的三个维度并结合主人公查尔斯·斯特里克兰德在一生寻求自我的经历中,从地理位置的转移,紧密接触的人物,和追寻理想的心理变化过程去探寻塔西提岛的象征意义。 本论文一共分为三个部分:引言、正文和结论。引言部分,介绍毛姆和他的作品,国内外对《月亮和六便士》的研究及空间分析理论。正文分为三个部分,第一章节从主人公地理位置的转移来看,塔西提岛象征着关注人性自由的地方。第二章节从与主人公有紧密接触的三位女性的社会空间角度来看,塔西提岛是灵魂伴侣的象征。第三章节从主人公追寻梦想由蒙昧、探寻到觉醒的心理空间角度,塔西提岛是实现理想的圣地的象征。总结,通过不同的维度去分析塔西提岛的象征意义,进一步领悟到人们在实现自我的道路上,需要突破世俗桎梏,抵制诱惑,甘守寂寞的坚强意志,同时也需要在理想与现实之间把握合适的度。 关键词:空间理论;象征意义;塔西提岛 |
