Introduction

In recent years, with the development of translation studies,more and more scholars have realized that the importance oftranslator’s subjectivity,and have begun to pay attention to its connotation, characteristics, restrictive factors and impact on the translation process, translation quality and reader acceptance. The objective existence of the translator's subjectivity affects the faithfulness.The criterion of “faithfulness” also limits the translator's subjectivity to a certain extent.However, a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between the translator's subjectivity and the criterion of “faithfulness” can facilitate a deeper exploration of the translator's potential. The translator’s subjectivity is under the control of “faithfulness”,and faithfulness is relative for translators who have that subjectivity. The translator is like a knight riding on a finite territory,and the proper exercise of subjectivity allows him to be at ease. Based on such a situation,the purpose of this paper is to sort out the research of translator's subjectivity. It is hopeful that the factors that may restrict the translator’s subjectivity will be presented, and the effects of translator's subjectivity and "faithfulness" criterion on translators willbe explained, providing some insights into the research on the translator’s subjectivity.
