C-E Translation of Sales Contract from the Functional Equivalence Theory

Abstract

The purpose of translation is to meet specific social needs.The ultimate goal of translation is to meet specific needs.With the integration of the world economy,countries are becoming more and more interdependent economically, and the flow of goods, services, and technology is also increasing. With the rapid development of domestic and foreign trade markets,the signing of sales contracts has become a common thing in work and life. Translation is a very important link in the process of signing a business contract, but our country's research in this area is still relatively insufficient. Nida believes that translation should not pursue a strictly corresponding literal meaning, but should achieve the functional identity of the two languages. He pointed out as follows: The so-called translation is to use themost appropriate, natural and equivalent language,from semantics to stylistics, and to reproduce information in the source language. Therefore, the translation of this article based on the theory of functional identity provides a useful reference for the translation of commercial sales contracts.
