| 浅析约翰高尔斯华绥《苹果树》中的爱情与现实【英文】 摘要：中篇小说《苹果树》是英国著名的批判现实主义作家约翰·高尔斯华绥自诩为“我最好的故事之一”的著作，描写了爱舍斯特和梅根的爱情悲剧。本文首先概述作者和小说的基本情况，进行简要分析，让大家对作者和作品有初步的认识。其次探讨作品中反映出的“骑士精神”，从男主的反抗到妥协的心理变化历程，并在此基础上揭示其虚伪的本质。最后，文章阐释苹果树花开花谢的象征意义,试图在体会梅根和爱舍斯特爱情美好的同时思考梅根难逃被抛弃命运的社会根源。 关键词：约翰·高尔斯华绥，《苹果树》，骑士精神，爱情与现实 A Brief Analysis on Love and Reality in “The Apple Tree” by John Galsworthy School of International Studies Major: English Grade: 2017 Instructor: Li XueQin Abstract:The novella the apple tree is the work of John Galsworthy, a famous British critical realist writer, who claims to be "one of my best stories", which describes the love tragedy of Ashurst and Megan. This paper intends to give a brief introduction and discussion about the author and the novella firstly, and then analyzes the "Chivalry" based on the protagonist’s psychological changing process from resistance to compromise, so as to disclose its hypocritical nature. Finally, the paper aims to interpret the symbolic meaning of the apple tree from blooming to withering, in an attempt to probe into the root for Megan's doomed fate of being abandoned while tasting the beauty of the love between Ashurst and her.
