| The Difference of Cultural Connotation between the Eastand the West from the Perspective of Animal Words 从动物词语看东西方文化内涵的差异 Abstract: There are abundant animal words in both Chinese and English.Language is the carrier of culture,and these animal words also have unique cultural connotations in the east and the west. These animal words are closely related to cultural background, natural environment, customs and religious beliefs. Chinese and English are typical representatives of eastern and Western cultures.The study of Chinese and English Animal Words provides a unique perspective for us to study the cultural connotations of the east and the west contained in the two language systems. The analysis of the connotation of animal words can reflect the influenceof culture on vocabulary,which is helpful to understand animal words in language learning and improve cross-cultural communication ability. The paper is intended to make learners pay more attention to the cultural connotation of foreign language vocabulary through the comparative analysis of animal wordsand the reasons for the different meanings of animal words in east and west.
