| An Analysis of gender Differences in English Language Abstract: Gender differences are a basic feature of linguistics and have long been intertwined with language problems. The gender gap in language is a language phenomenon that language users show out of social, cultural, customs and other considerations. Language and gender influence each other,and the objective existence of gender difference determines how language reflects gender difference. Recent studies have shown that the impact of gender on social language variation may be more fundamental than is currently recognized. The differences between men and women in language use have attracted the attention of linguists as early as the 17th century. This paper focuses on pronunciation, intonation,vocabulary, speech act, language learning and so on. Unlike gender discrimination in language,these differences are caused by complex causes, and different scholars have different views on their causes. This paper also briefly discusses its causes from the aspects of biology, language itself, social role and social value orientation.
