| A Study of Characters in The Sound and The Fury from the perspective of unconscious Theory ABSTRACT: The Sound and the Fury is a classic work by William Faulkner, a famous American writer。It was many years after its publication that the book attractedmuch attention for its complex structure and confusing content.The novel shows Faulkner's advanced writing consciousness and creativethinking, which has become the object that critics are eager to study.The novel is about the family tragedy of the fallen landlords Compson and his family in the south.Old Compson was a loafer and a drinker.His wife was selfish, callous and complaining.The book begins with Benji, an idiot, on April 7, 1928,his 33rd birthday, but intellectually stuck at the age of three.Unable to speak, he could only express himself by howling,which greatly enhanced the decadent atmosphere of the Compson family.The second chapter is based on the eldest son Quentin as the main line,Quentin clings to the so-called old tradition of the South,and thinks that his sister Katie is disgraceful and disrespectful to the identity of the South lady.The third part is "Jason's Part", which is narrated by Quentin's brother Jason.Because Quentin failed to get Jason to get a position in the bank,Jason hated the Quentin family very much, which fully showed his selfish psychological state. the story revolves around the fall of Katie,and finally is supplemented by the "limited perspective" of the first three parts by the black maid Dilsey.She supplemented the plot of the novel with her observation of the family and inner monologue, which reflected her "human" power.
