| 《老人与海》中主人公圣地亚哥的性格分析 Abstract: Ernest Hemingway(1898-1961), a famous American writer, is regarded as one of the most influential and outstanding writers in the 20th century of the world. He has written many works, among his works, The Old Man and the Sea(1952) is the most famous one. In this novel, Hemingway explored the theme that man showed courage and willpower when he was confronted with the challenges alone. The thesis tends to probe into Santiago in the following aspects: confidence and courage, love of nature and respect for life, expectation for the future. Meanwhile, it also analyses the character of Santiago. From the analysis of Santiago, we can learn that when facing miserable fate, man should be brave and should struggle with all the pains to love life.
