Analysis of Mother Image in The Joy Luck Club
——from the Feminist Perspective

Abstract
 
The Joy Luck Club is a famous Chinese American writer Amy Tan published in 1989,she was famous for this work. This novel depicts the life twists and emotion stories of four pairs of mother and daughter who were immigrate from China to America. The stories of four main character in the novel. The story of four women in the novel reveals the collision and conflict between the traditional culture of Chinese immigrants' inner world and their new culture absorbed by their offspring under the background of foreign culture. The novel starts from the angle of feminism, the conflict between Chinese and Western cultures, the conflict between mother and daughter and the different ways of expressing love between Chinese and American mother, it is rich in content and the topics of the study are multilayered. From the perspective of feminism, this thesis describes the images of the four mothers through the storyline and reveals how these old Chinese women who was poisoned and oppressed for thousand years get rid of the oppression of the patriarchal society, and their subject consciousness goes from silence to awakening to resistance.
