An Analysis of Humanity of Revenge in The Count of Mount Cristo Abstract: The Count of Mount Cristo was written by French player and writer--Alexandre Dumas, it was one of his most famous works. It had been translated into different languages and adapted into films many times. The Count of Mount Cristo is an adventure novel about revenge and humanity, its historical background was the exile of Napoleon, and it gains its reputation among the world because of its dramatic story plots and humanity. The dramatic story plots are the experiences of hero’s character-Edmond, he suffered the wrong imprisonment, escaped from the jail then revenged his foes successfully with the help of great wealth and determination. As for humanity, it is an important part of this novel. Actually, it is the humanity that makes this novel become popular with the people. The humanity of this book is shown by the behaviour and psychological changes of Edmond. This paper analyzes the humanity of revenge including the humanity of revenge in this book and the causes of humanity.
