Abstract: Writing is very important for improving students' language output ability, and it helps to promote and promote the development and improvement of other skills. Therefore, writing plays a crucial role in English learning. In high school, English writing is one of contents and means of learning. Meanwhile, it is not only a key point and a difficult point of English teaching, but a vital standard to judge students’ knowledge and skills, as well as their language application ability. However, although New Curriculum Standards attach more concentration on the cultivation of students' writing ability, the teaching of writing is still insufficient; At present, the study of senior high school students' writing ability and writing teaching is not satisfactory. According to the survey of the current situation about senior high school students’ writing ability,this thesis plans to introduce imitative method by an action research in English writing class in Senior high schools, aiming to improve the current high school writing teaching, especially to help students to find a useful and practical way to improve their English writing skills. This paper mainly discuss two of the following questions:
1. How does the method of writing simulation affect the writing ability of high school students?
2. How does the method of simulation writing affect student interest and motivation?
This research applied 46 students who came from Baita senior high school grade two as research subjects. Research data was gathered from teaching journals and the 46 students' writing samples and questionnaires. Next, the author analyzed and discussed these data with the help of SPSS.
The study found out that imitation way improves students' level of using words correctly and making sentences properly, especially choosing advanced words and broadening the sentence structure. The way also makes students improve the students' level of discourse structure, and students learn to effectively use statements connections between components, which makes structure compact. There may be many limitations in this study of the method of imitating writing, but the topic of how to improve the writing ability of senior high school students will still attract sufficient attention.
