目的论视角下英美书名翻译研究【英文】

摘要

书本,作为一种信息和社会文化的传播载体,在不同民族和国家之间的相互输出与其他人的输入无疑已经成为了社会和文化的交流中很重要的一环。书名本身就相当于这是一部小说作品的一个窗口,乃是画龙点睛之处,读者第一眼看到能够映入眼帘的便是这个书名,用一颗心脏的力量来描写书名的重要性和地位一点也不为过,我们只需要透过一本小说的书名去窥探一本小说作品的基本主题和大致所讲述的内容,它就是小说创作者自己构思的最终产物。翻译这个书名的使用效果好坏,不仅仅在于为了能够获得广大读者的认可和青睐,让广大读者自己做出决策并且确定自己是否具备购买这个书名的意向,更多是翻译得美轮美毂的这个书名能够有助于传递译者对这个作者的无穷敬意和对这个作品的充分尊重。
本文以目的论作为理论基础,不同类型的图书名称及其翻译词汇作为研究材料。按照翻译目的性原则和行动,目的论给译者们提供了一个指导书名汉译的全新视角,实现了翻译目的,将优秀的书名翻译得更加精炼,并且有针对性地将其译得更为广大读者所熟悉和欣赏。因为这个书名往往是最先开始进入读者眼界的部分,很快就会直接影响到它们决定读者自己是否想得到这本书,所以怎样才能使用这个书名来吸引读者,是译家必须认真思考的一个问题。据此,本文得出以下结论:英语图片书名的翻译既具有相对的灵活性,也应该具备自身的独特性和要求。此外,不同类型的文化、被受众心理及其接纳能力,以及书籍的销售市场在翻译的过程中也是必须考虑的因素。知识的传递是一个复杂而多样化,多渠道的过程,汉译书名都必须要充分结合一定的意义和目的,有针对性地进行翻译,以便得到更为广大读者接受和赞同的准确译文。

Abstract

Books, as a carrier of information and social culture,have undoubtedly become a very important part of social and cultural exchanges in the mutual output and input of other people among different nationalities and countries. The title itself is equivalent to a window of a novel, which is the finishing point.The first thing readers can see is the title.It is not too much to describe the importance and status of the title with the power of a heart.We only need to go through the title of a novel to get a glimpse of the basic theme and content of a novel, It is the final product of the author's own conception. The use effect of translation is not only to gain the recognition and favor ofthe readers, let the readers make their own decisions and determine whether they have the intention to buy the title,but also to help the translator to convey the infinite respect for the author and the full respect for the work.
This paper takes skopos theory as the theoretical basis,and different types of book names and their translated words as the research materials. According to the Skopos principle and action of translation,skopos theory provides translators with a new perspective toguide the translation of book titles, realizes the goal of translation, refines the excellent book titles and makes them more familiar and appreciated by the readers. Because the title of the book is often the first part to enter the readers' eyes, which will soon directly affect whether the readers want to get the book. Therefore, how to use the title to attract readers is a problem that translators must seriously consider. Based on this, this paper draws the following conclusions: the translation of English picture booktitles not only has relative flexibility, but also should have its own uniqueness and requirements. In addition, different types of culture, the psychology of being accepted by the audience,and the sales market of books are also factors that must be considered in the process of translation. The transfer of knowledge is a complex, diversified and multi-channel process.The Chinese translation of book titles must be fully combined with a certain meaning andpurpose, so as to get an accurate translation accepted and agreed by more readers.
