A Study on Rhetoric and Translation Strategies of English Proverbs

[Abstract]
English proverbs are the treasures of language and literature that condense the essence of English and the crystallization of national wisdom. From the perspective of proverbs culture theory, this paper studies the factors that affect proverbs, historical culture in a different periods, religious beliefs, and other factors closely related to the translation of proverbs. And summarize the rhetorical techniques used in proverbs and explore translation strategies. The adoption of literature research plays an auxiliary role in the rhetorical technique and translation strategies of proverbs. This research is conducive to improving the translation level of learners' proverbs, profoundly understanding the cultural connotation of proverbs, and improving the ability to understand express English. Deepen the understanding of rhetorical techniques and apply them to practical translation. Besides, it can also help learners master the skills of English proverb translation strategies from shallow to deep, learn the skills and methods of English -speaking people to express views and describe things, better master the language characteristics of English, express thoughts and emotions more vividly and accurately, and profoundly improve the ability to use language.
