| An Analysis of Four Sisters’ Images in Little Women from the Perspective of Feminism ABSTRACT Little Women is a novel written by Louisa May Alcott, an American female writer. Little Women is a family ethics novel with autobiographical color based on the background of American Civil War and the life trivialities among four sisters in an ordinary family in New England in the 19th century. Influenced by Emerson, a great thinker at that time, the writer emphasizes the concepts of personal dignity, self-reliance and self-discipline. The female images in Little Women are different from those in traditional works. They are not only kind and loving mothers, filial daughters and loving sisters, but also have the female spirit of pursuing independence and equality consciousness. The content is simple but exquisite, the structure is simple but profound, full of strong appeal. This paper intends to analyze four sisters’ images in Little Women from the perspective of feminism and discuss the female thoughts reflected in the novel. Through the analysis of the four sisters’ female values, views on marriage and love, career pursuit and yearning for freedom in Little Women, the paper further explores the double characteristics of the female characters, which are not only in line with the traditional values of the patriarchal society, but also have advanced female consciousness of being eager for equal rights.
