| A Comparative Study of the Heroines in Tess of the D’Urbervilles and The Golden Age [Abstract] This thesis is mainly about the comparison betweenthe heroines in Tess of the D’Urbervilles and The Golden Age. Tess of the D'urbervilles was written by Thomas Hardy,who made it a great treasure of English literature in the 19th century. The other part of my study is about The Golden Age,which was created by a Chinese writer who is called Wang Xiaobo. This thesis attempts to compare two heroines in these two creative works,exploring the similarities and differences between these two female characters from the perspectives of their life experiences, personalities ,and attitudes, trying to help the readers have a better understanding of the themes of the works and female characters in different times and social backgrounds.
