Abstract: In this study, the pine oak forest community in the middle part of Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province was investigated. Five functional diversity indexes of tree layer and shrub layer were calculated and redundancyanalysis was carried out to explore the impact of environmental factors (soil, topography, etc.) on community functional diversity. The results showed that: (1) the effects of environmental factors on the functional diversity of tree layer and shrub layer were significantly different. Soil total nitrogen content and slope position were the main factors affecting tree layer.Slope position was positively correlated with fric index, and negatively correlated with Rao index,FEVE index and FDIS index; soil total nitrogen was positively correlated with Rao index, FEVE index and FDIS index. (2) Soil pH and altitude affected the shrub layer.Altitude was negatively correlated with fric index, and pH was negatively correlated with Rao index, FEVE index, FDIS index and fdiv index. This study is helpful to reveal the key environmental factors that affect the functional diversity of communities at different levels, and screen out these environmental factors, which can effectively protect and manage the plant resources in Qinling Mountains, and also provide theoretical guidance for improving the ability of the ecosystem to resist interference.
